2006
My piece for Haunted, a kinetic mural of sorts using a few hundred LED's, a smoke machine and some vinyl lettering.

I am participating in Haunted a show curated by The Blood Rainbow Family (aka Brenden Clenaghen, Margaret Currin, and Patrick Rock) and scheduled for opening on September 30th. The show will take place at DISJECTA: a three floored, 12,000 sq. ft. brick warehouse located on the southeast side of the Burnside bridge in Portland, Oregon.

The list of participating artists is as follows: Liz Cohen / Jackie Sumell, Pam Martin / Linda Ford, Margaret Tedesco, Ulrika Andersson, Cheyenne Weaver / Ryan Taber, Brian Storts, Chris Sollars, Bob Linder, Tim Sullivan, Brian Wasson, Lucas Murgida, John Mace, Thomas Moecker / Simone Schlabe (Germany), The Blood Rainbow Family.

This is my proposal for Haunted: it is an L-shaped wall with text attached with 3M adhesive vinyl. The wall will be painted with magnetic paint to hold the 200 dark blue LED lights that make up the "starry sky". Graffitti Research Labs developed this way of attaching LED's, known as "LED throwies". The smoke will be generated by dry ice.

I made the smoke effect in this image using a tutorial I found on Bluesfear.com.

Silkwaves, installed at the Exploratorium's Reconsidered Materials show on opening night.

I'm in a show at The Exploratorium Called Reconsidered Materials. It will be on display throughout the museum on Friday, February 3 2006, 7-9 P.M.

This from the curators:

Stone suitcases. Styrofoam Hummers. Crocheted cells. In conjunction with the opening of a new exhibition in the Exploratorium's Seeing Gallery, local artists explore objects made from surprising, unexpected, and unusual materials in a reexamination of the relationship between form, function, and substance. The cavernous Palace of Fine Arts itself becomes part of the canvas as animated artworks hang from the building's exposed beams and trusses.

This event is sponsored in part by a grant from Grants for the Arts/San Francisco Hotel Tax Fund.
